Defining your business value

“What makes you different from other _________?” Fill in the blank with whatever you do.

As a coach I’ve been asked this question several times in the last couple months.

I love this question and always thank them for asking me.

I don’t start off by telling them I’m a certified coach meaning I paid for lots of amazing training.

There are lots of wonderful coaches who aren’t certified and others who are.

I don’t start off by telling them my process as I know other coaches may have similar processes.

If we go down similar education paths, we’re going to have access to similar tools.

Pricing isn’t ever used to answer this question.

Some coaches will be lower and others will be higher. I don’t entertain the price game.

I answer them with one word and that word is me.

I am the one piece of my coaching engagement they can’t get anywhere else.

My upbringing, my family and all of my life experiences have all created who I am today.

The magic of Blackburn Boutique Coaching is my story. My Why.

I bring all of that wrapped in my authentic self with every coaching experience I provide.

So many times we let that question throw us off our game.

We begin to compare ourselves to others when we hear prospects doing it. It’s easy to get caught up in that.

Remember, no one else is like you and that is what you should bring to the table.

Dig deep and work on answering that question. Get comfortable with it.

So that when you are asked, you can own your answer.

As Dr. Suess said, “Today you are YOU, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than YOU.”

You are your differentiating factor. If you don’t feel like you are, what do you need to do to get there?
